The Straw

A glass of orange juice mysteriously appears upon a table. Kristin Daniels stares at it, terrified of its missing straw. Then, to her relief, the straw suddenly appears. After an hour's inspection, Kristin Daniels decides that the practical thing to do is to put her lips upon the straw's end, contrary to anywhere else. The task, she realizes, is simpler than what she preconceived, so she sips with confidence and vigor, sipping the juice down to the last drop. Kristin Daniels then continues to sip.

Bits of the glass liquefies and travels up the straw until no glass is left. Shrugging at this event as a mere working of chance, Kristin Daniels continues, sipping the entire table followed by the room. At this point, she gets the impression that something is off-key. Kristin Daniels sips away at the off-key sound then at the color of everything. She then sips at the reality of it all. At this point, she questions whether she has sipped too far, as she finds herself a mere character trapped inside a fictional world.
